Grampa's Weeder - The Original Stand Up Weed Puller Tool with Long Handle - Easily Remove Weeds Without Bending, Pulling, or Kneeling

If the option for a 3.5 or 3.75 rating existed, I'd probably have given it that. The tool seems very well made, and I love the simplicity of it. But, it does not work as great as it appeared in the video on Grampa's site or in an independent review I saw on youtube. Still, though, it's much better than trying to pull weeds out by hand. The negatives are that; a) long roots rarely come out in total - if much at all - and sometimes the prongs don't grab body of the weed - though that is rare, and b) once you have pried the root out with the tool, you have to clean the clump of weed and mud out of the prongs. Some type of plunger mechanism to push the clump out of the prongs would be welcomed. Knowing what I know now, I'd still buy it.

We have a thriving weed / thistle community here in Phoenix, similar to dandelions, with a twist. The desert soil is so hard here that even Grampa's Weeder can't penetrate without a a bit of ingenuity so I carry a litre of water to soften up each offender one last time. Necessity spawned a minor inspiration. It turns out my young neighbor found a Weeder in his mom's garage and asked me what it was. Never give up

It is very satisfying to use this weed puller.
